In Telangana, management and NRI seats in private medical and dental colleges have their own names: B category for management seats and C category for NRI seats. Both are filled through counselling conducted by the state's health university — not by colleges directly.
Who conducts counselling
Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) conducts NEET-UG counselling for:
- Competent authority (convener) quota — government seats and the state-quota share of private college seats.
- Management quota — B category and C category (NRI) seats in private non-minority and minority colleges, through a separate notification and registration.
B category vs C category
- B category — management seats filled on NEET-UG merit among registered candidates, at the fee notified for that category.
- C category — NRI and NRI-sponsored seats, requiring NRI proof and sponsorship documents, usually at the highest fee.
